ASHTEAD ART LOVERS

  What & Where is it?

Ashtead Art Lovers  is for those who are interested in learning about all aspects of art; those who created it, those who commissioned it, the events of the times in which they lived and how we view it today.

The public London Galleries temporary exhibitions are all beautifully curated and it is always interesting to have the hand held guides.  However, knowing a bit more about the subject gives us a much wider appreciation of what we are seeing.  Talks covering the backgrounds of the temporary exhibitions held at The Royal Academy, The National Gallery, Tate Britain and some of the Tate Modern will fill in some of the background for these.  The discussions take the format of a power point presentation and are designed to encourage a rolling discussion in a relaxed and informal setting, with a drink and nibbles.

In addition, there are various courses on Tudor and Renaissance art for those wanting to delve deeper into these particular subjects.  For more information, or to register an interest contact Mell Fraser either by email: ashteadartlovers@gmail.com  or by phone 01372 272 235.

AAL is based in Ashtead and, in addition to the talks, we  organise visits to exhibitions and places of interest.  These visits are preceeded by a talk providing participants with some background knowledge thus enhancing your enjoyment of any visit.   Whether you are just beginning to explore the world of art or want to look at art history in greater depth,  AAL provides the perfect starting point.

From time to time essays on various subjects will appear on this site.  Students  are welcome to quote from these provided proper accreditation is given.  Any breach of copyright will be prosecuted

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Pablo Picasso
